EastTester ET4410 LCR meter new Kelvin probes
« on: June 05, 2024, 01:49:54 pm »
Hi, I recently purchased ET4410 LCR meter and I'm happy with it but I need longer test probe (the supplied one has approx 70 cm only). It would also be nice to have SMD Kelvin probe for this LCR meter. I found this listing on AliExpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004873453343.html which has both alligator and SMD clips, 1 meter long (which should be enough, but 1.2 m would be optimal), with "junction box" to be able co quickly change the probe. Any idea if it will be compatible with ET4410 (BNC center to center distance)? I can see ET4410 has a reverse order of the BNCs compared to the probes (Hcur Hpot Lpot Lcur compared to Lcur Lpot Hpot Hcur), but that should be no problem, in the worst case I will relabel the polarity of the alligators/SMD clip.

Or is there a better option where to buy Kelvin probes for ET4410 for reasonable price?

We've spent a lot of time and $ wrt SMD device for accurate repeatable results. Bottom line is forget the tweezers and Kelvin Clips for SMD devices. See below and all our related posts.

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/cheap-smd-lcr-fixture-the-good-bad-and-ugly!/

As you can see you'll need to modify the fixtures for best results, and the longer the cables the more uncertainty in the measurements, so keep the cables as short as possible.

Please follow all our related posts for these fixtures, including the DC Bias fixture which allows adding DC bias to the DUT and see how this affects the DUT parameters :o

Good luck with your new LCR meter :-+

Thanks. Regarding the fixture, is the BNC center to center distance 22mm?

Yes, standard BNC spacing on our TH2830 and IM3536 LCR meters.
