What's so bad about the mini-USB socket at the side? Except for the fact
that the plug sticks out.

It's pretty much obsolete, and the micro is going obsolete too. It was normal to see mini-USB charging/data ports in 2005, maybe even in 2010, but not in 2024.
I struggle to find any mini-USB cable around me (but I had some -- I'd need to search hard), almost everything uses type-C these days.

You are very careful when choosing a device and rightly so! But there must be at least one flaw in the device, otherwise it becomes uninteresting. ;D

OK. Maybe it's time to get one of those 10 or 12 piece adaptor sets.
I happen to have - besides an older 7 piece one without USB C - a good USB cable collection.
Yes, we do eat a lot of those Haribo fruit gums.....
