Title: EEVBlog DMM thermocouple safe temperature range?
Post by: cbc02009 on September 18, 2018, 11:38:20 am
Hello,

I have the EEVBlog BM235 and the k-type thermocouple that it came with. The manual specifically mentions that it doesn't include the range and accuracy for the thermocouple.

I am going to be doing some reflowing, and I would like to use the DMM to measure the temperature. Will the thermocouple be safe to use at those temperatures for those periods of time, or should I get a new one? I don't really know what the blue coating on the wire is made of, so I don't really know if it will melt or not.

The problem is the isolation on the cable, the times I have seen a rating for it it (On cheap thermocouplers) is usual in the 300°C ~ 400°C range.
