Eleshop active rf probe
« on: May 04, 2022, 07:36:25 pm »
Hi guys,
Does anyone have any experience with active rf probes sold at Eleshop, or a better and easy to reach alternative?

It is just 25 Euros.

That is the 'classic' Elektor probe. You can find these much cheaper on Ebay / Aliexpress.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

I already tried but couldn't find anything else than these :(

I appreciate if anyone could point me to the right direction. Does it make more sense to buy a used commercial active probe.
My scope is Siglent SDS 2104X Plus with 500 MHz upgrade.

Regards...

Better start at the beginning: what kind of signals do you want to measure? From there you can set some basic specifications for a probe. In many cases using a direct cable connection is a better option. A direct cable connection will always be superior compared to probing.

I have bought a few of the Elektor probes for a few euros each but never used them because they are AC only and need a relatively high supply voltage. A probe that can be powered through a USB connection is much more convenient.
