Title: Environmental Test Chambers - Advice
Post by: pmankow on January 13, 2020, 09:02:09 pm
Hello,
I am looking to purchase a new environmental test chamber that has the minimum specs:
> -40 to +60 degC transition in min 60 minutes
> 1.2 cuft interior volume
> Viewing window
> Ports for instrumentation and wiring insertion
> Multi-step programming
> (optional) humidity control
> ~$12k

I have a unit from Thermotron but it is very very old and is starting to fail. I haven't really seen any information or discussion about this type of equipment online so I am looking for model recommendations, brand quality or experience feedback, etc...

These are expensive pieces of equipment but absolutely vital for many industries that develop products for harsh environments.

Your feedback is appreciated. Related information is welcomed.

We have a number of Tenney Jr. chambers.  One runs -45C to 140C cycles 24/7.

They seem fairly dependable except for a thermal fuse that needed replacement in two of them.

We have all solid doors but a Google image search shows a number of units with windows.  There are benefits to not having the viewing port in terms of heat loss and condensation.

I'm not familiar with a new price but I think a used one can be had for around half of your budget.  Probably country dependent.  I'm in US.

TestEquity has a number of chambers.  We bought a mid-range model years ago at my workplace and was generally happy with it.
