I am workin on an early 1970s radio and I would like to align the fm section. Ie which sweep generator is best fm generator... Thanks guys I'm new to this aspect and I just want to know what equipment I need and what is good and not. Thanks

You need a generator that can do a 10.7Mhz IF sweep. Also it should have a modulated RF output over the 88.1 to 107.9Mhz FM band for front end alignment. There are lots of purpose made FM generators out there. I don't know your budget, but a good one that can be had on the 'bay for around $150.00 (or less, if you are lucky) is the Sencore SG165. It does all the FM signals, including multiplex stereo, and it also has AM RF and IF signals. As a bonus, it has a built in amplifier dummy load and a couple of analog meters for measuring power output, and separation. It is easy to use and they tend to hold their calibration pretty well. I'm sure others will probably have their favorites. :)

Thanks a lot. Im going to try and find a sencore on eBay. I love new test equipment!
