Extech ex845 teardown.
« on: January 30, 2018, 04:09:28 pm »
I bought this thing off of ebay for $26 shipped so I thought I'd tear it down. I didn't even turn it on. Says the readings would wander. Turns out, Someone already tried fixing it, but maybe missed the two wires from the input board to the main had broke loose. You can see I re-bodged the bodge for the bad trace.

I found that the teardown is pretty much the same except for the input protection and the bluetooth module. Of course I didn't get any close shots of the module lol. So I just zoomed in on what I had. I'll take some better pics if It's in demand. The bluetooth pcb has a atmega along side it. As for the rest, some caps have gone from through-hole to smd and some things moved around for space for some connectors to the bluetooth. The ICs don't have the potting material on them as they did in the ex830 teardown.

I realize If I do more of these, I'll need soft lighting and something decent at macro. These were also heavily compressed jpeg. I should've captured in raw at least, to get rid of most of the blur.

Could you just upload the pix as attachments here on the forum? None of those inline images are loading.

Probably because of being in your browser cache, but not available for download when the referrer page is not google itself.
