Flexible Oscilloscope probes (cables)

(1/1)

MRiddickW:
Hi all, I'm ready for a bit of an upgrade from the probes that came with my Rigol (the ones with the orange 1x/10x switch that sticks out).

Does anyone make reasonably priced (<$60/probe) oscilloscope probes with cables that are decently flexible? I understand that coax can only get so flexible, but hopefully there's something a little better at least.

I'm looking at 10x non-switchable. Maybe I'd a get a single 1x non-switchable just in case; but I'm tired of wondering if spurious measurements are from the circuit or the crappy switch.

Having experienced the flexibility of Probemaster 8000 series multimeter probes, I've been looking at the 4904-2, but am open to suggestions.

The cheaper the better of course, with the understanding that you get what you pay for. I've done some searching on this forum and elsewhere but couldn't find any strong suggestions. I've done the Rigol hack on my DS-1054 so 100 MHz+ to support would be ideal.

Thanks!

The ones that came with my Siglent scope are pretty good flexibility wise.  I do not know what the Rigol ones are like, but these Siglent supplied ones are more supple than my old Tek probes.

I was going to recommend that exact Probemaster, perhaps buying one deluxe kit and one 1X/10X (their switches aren't crap).

However, if you want cheap, the probes sold on eBay as the P2301B are not terrible and can be had pretty cheaply.  They're a bit bulkier, but I find them easier to grip.

MRiddickW:
Awesome, thanks for the suggestions!

And I do sure like that beefy ground clip on the P2301B as well.
