Siglent Firmware Upgrade - SDS2000 and MSO2000 series
« on: July 22, 2014, 02:00:19 am »
Hi folks,

just a quick heads-up to let you know Siglent has a new firmware upgrade available for the SDS2000 / MSO2000 series.
The new firmware does the following:

1, MSO functionality and stability optimized
2, serial triggering and decode improved
3, added SCPI
4, added VXI-11
5, fix some bugs, including user feedback.
6, added  multiple languages
7, added the optional power analysis software module
8, updated the user manual
9, added SCPI Commands Manual
10, added cursor tracking mode

NOTE : For folks that have one of these 'scopes already and wish to add options, the retrofit options are orderable using these part numbers:

SDS-2000-FG   25MHz Function/Arbitrary Waveform Generator
SDS-2000-DC   I2C, SPI, UART/RS232, CAN, LIN decoding package  (remember trigger for these is standard)
SDS-2000-PA   Power Analysis module
SDS-2000-LA   MSO option, 8-channel, 500MSa/s

You will get a software code. We'll be posting links for ordering these options shortly.

The new firmware is here:

The scope details are here.
http://triotest.com.au/siglent-sds2000-series-super-phospor-oscilloscopes/

We have the 100 MHz 4-channel on our website now and we are loading the rest of the models over the next few days.

The new firmware does the following:

...
8, updated the user manual
9, added SCPI Commands Manual

I'm curious how firmware adds and updates Manuals.  ;)

Since there is apparently now a SCPI manual for the SDS2000, I'd appreciate it if a link could be provided.

Greetings Mark.

We are planning to put the new SCPI manual for the SDS2000 family of oscilloscopes on the Siglent website early next week (week of August 3). The new firmware and manual will all be available then at
www.Siglent.com

Steve, I know it's a bit too early to expect the SCPI manual to show up there yet (if it's not there by end of week, I'll certainly mention it).  But I stopped by there just to take a look at what docs Siglent does have for the 2000 series, and am a bit confused.  The page I visited is here:

http://www.siglent.com/en/product/detail.aspx?id=100000008529687&nodecode=119008001

and if you click on the Downloads tab (where manuals, data sheets, software updates, etc. are usually found), there is a long list of items for the 1000-series.  And nothing at all for the 2000.  Ignoring the fact that the 1000 info is out of place on the 2000 page, shouldn't a manufacturer have documentation for their products available on their own web site?

Perhaps you could look into this, and see what's up?

Hi, Mark.
Well, you are absolutely correct about that web page!
My short answer is that we have been working on a new web site design and my "guess" is we have been busy with that so the error went unnoticed. But I have forwarded your catch to our factory guys. I did notice that the handheld battery powered scopes (SHS-Series) have a different list of downloads but yes, all of the SHS100-family of scopes do have the same list.
Thanks for letting me know.
Steve

Well, I just got word last night that SCPI command manual will not be ready this week after all. I apologize. It seems Engineering is still doing the testing and therefore it will be a while longer. We will let everyone know when it is ready.
We appreciate your patience!

That's OK.  Sometime schedules shift, or slip.  Thanks for confirming it's being worked on, and letting us know it will be delayed.  That's way better than being left in the dark.

The information I got 2 weeks ago was to expect SCPI manual late August.
In the meanwhile the SDS1000 series instructions will work albeit with a reduced command set.

Well, it's two months past "late August".  I'm assuming it's not available yet, or we would have gotten an announcement?

I'm wondering too.
There is a beta version out, marmad has a copy, but I need to chase this up.
