Both of these meters have cases and in the last 10 years sat within a draw virtually unused in all that time. Both were purchased together so they are approx the same age. As you can see the 87V holster looks like it did when new, however the 28II holster has started to degrade. It is hard to capture but there is a white powder forming on the holster and the case of the meter which has been in contact has picked up some of this.
I don't know if any of my other meters are also experiencing this, at some point as my wife wants me to sell the unused meters,m it's a bit of a job as most of them remain in packing boxes from over 10 years ago.

Batteries have only leak in my very expensive test gear as well as a favorite meter (189). Everything else is immune.

I work from home these days due to health reasons. I can't see me every using most of the field gear I have and my wife is well aware of how much money is sitting in boxes unused. Over the years she has always let me buy what I needed so I know where she is coming from on this.
