Fluke 289 Complete set of Battery Contacts Needed
(1/1)
scopeman:
My Fluke 289 needs to have the complete set (including the spiral spring contacts) replaced due to battery leakage. I looked on eBay but no one has a complete set of the correct ones. Plenty for the 189 but none that I could find for the 289. If I could find a reasonable source for a complete battery holder/cover I might consider that but all I need are the contacts.
Thanks,
Sam

One of our 287 had a broken spring in the battery holder. I sent it to Fluke and they replace the entire holder for free. If you can't get Fluke to fix it under warranty perhaps you can buy this.

Thank you so much for the response. I really appreciate that!
I decided not to screw with trying to fix the corroded contacts one and bought the one you gave me the link to. The cost is only a few percent of the cost of a new instrument. Fortunately all of the damage was contained within the battery holder itself.
From now on this instrument will have Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries used in it as I have never found them to leak.
I just wish that Fluke would have put an extra position on the range switch for power off/on. I really do not like instruments that are battery operated and have a soft power switch as the constant low current drain is what helps the batteries leak.....

P.S. No one else had that genuine Fluke part at a lower cost. I was given this meter when a plant tech was having an issue with it. I traded him for a simpler to use meter and I later fixed the Fluke 289 problem so I probably would not have been able to return it to Fluke anyway.
