HP/Agilent/Keysight 34401A and 34970A vacuum florescent display
« on: January 11, 2021, 09:35:17 pm »
I just got of the phone with technical support at Keysight for a different subject and the conversation ended up on the topic of the 34401A multimeter vacuum florescent display.  He told me that the identical display is also used in the 34970A DAQ.

It is good to know since there are Chinese replacements available for the 34401A

Not that I would generally second guess Keysight support but I don't think that's 100% accurate TBH.
If you look at the two displays you can see that there are annunicators on each that aren't on the other (like "Rear", "Math" & Ratio on the 34401 display) and some of those that ARE on both are not always located in the same place, like "Error" for example.

So I would look into that a bit more before buying a 34401a display for a 34970a or the other way around.

A 3.5 digit 4.5 digit 5 digit 5.5 digit 6.5 digit 7.5 digit DMM is good enough for most people.
