FLUKE 6060b

Here is my question regarding the Fluke 6060b RF Signal Generator.
Special function 09 is used to display the instrument's Software revision and Instrument ID number.
SO, pressing "SPCL" , "09" on my 6060b keypad yields "2.1" for the software revision and "6060a" for the instrument ID.

Does anyone else have a 6060b for which the software thinks it's a 6060a??

Functionally, I definitely think I have a 6060b since the 6060a frequency spec is only 520Mhz and I can output to 1 Ghz.

Cheers

Mine says "3.0   6060b"

Thanks for confirming. My serial number is 3680013. I'll assume it's an early model.
Its working fine. Just an oddity I guess.

Cheers

Have you checked the output between 520 MHz and 1 GHz with a scope or something to be sure that it's on frequency and the amplitude is correct? I'm wondering if your 6060A only thinks that it's capable of  1GHz? I have a 6060A and I looked into upgrading it some years ago and I seem to recall that there was a significant amount of new hardware involved.  But IIRC you could return the 6060A to the factory and have it upgraded to a 6060B so perhaps that was done with yours.  I can't check mine at the moment since it's been years since I used it and I don't even recall where it's parked.

Hi Stray Electron, my only O-scope is 20Mhz, but i have a $20 china frequency counter (PLJ-8LED) which I used as a functional check for the higher frequencies and I do get rf output at the higher frequencies.

My intended use for the 6060b is for FM tuner alignments so I'm only using 108Mhz anyway.

Cheers!
