Title: Fluke 8021B
Post by: mark hodsman on March 18, 2017, 10:51:32 am
I have two very clean Fluke 8021B meters. They look almost unused or very lightly used apart from the LCDs (of course). Now I got them as is expecting the worst but one LCD is fine and I re-used that in an 8010A bench meter. The other is readable but is bleeding so badly its unreadable. So anyone want to take these two on I will supply photographs of them. They are for sale with leads and all intact given the caveat that the displays are shot. Please email mark.haitch@gmail.com

They are indeed in very nice condition and worthy of the display mod. Hope they find a good home.
I particularly like the RACAL DANA leather cases  :)., I wonder what originally they housed. Surely not 'Fluke' multi meters ?.

Im happy to split if you just want the cases. All I can say is they came from a retired electrical engineer who worked for a US company in Saudi Arabia. Im not sure what was in them originally.

As for the meter LCD mod. I doubt thats something I'd undertake tbh.
BTW I also have a Racal Dana counter that I saved from the recycle bin. (see pic)

If you want any or all this stuff let me know!
Best Mark

Just as a note for this, you can replace the displays on those meters with some effort. Here's one I did. I've done an 8010A as well as the 8024B:

Costs about £7 and a couple of hours to replace the display.

I'd take both of those but I've already got a pile of 8021B's in various states of disrepair. Lovely meters. Much better than the modern ones. TBH the most valuable part is the IC in it as that's reusable across the whole range and the HRC fuses which are about £7.30+VAT a pop or the displays if working.

Also does that 9904 universal counter have any options installed (these are usually marked on the back)?

Both units in the photo are with the courier. With me in next day or so and I'll let you know. I have no need for either item in all honesty. I now have two fluke's an 8060A and an 8010A that I fixed and serve my needs entirely. I just hate to see this stuff junked. The 8021A's I paid more than I should because I assumed both LCD's were good and I should have insisted on seeing both displays on and running. I cannibalised one for the LCD and fixed my 8010A - it was almost entirely unreadable but is now a very nice piece of kit. The other 8021A has very bad bleeding. Such as shame all these units are let down by a very poor screen.

BTW I will show a couple more pics of the Racal counter when I get it

I have a 9906 which is similar with opt. 04B Oven osc., Marks unit has 04C (better spec osc. ?) and 07 which looks to be a battery option.
I like Racal gear and have a few samples including a DMM thats a rebadged Keithley 177 !. Shame they are quite rare down here.

04C = straight 10MHz xtal oscillator.

Still perfectly usable but alas I'm in the market for something a little heftier at the moment.

Keithley is rare here in the UK too. Plus also difficult to snipe on ebay as several attempts have proven :(
