Fluke 8840a - AC voltage reading low
« on: July 01, 2017, 05:53:47 am »
Got this meter off eBay with the cal button's sticker torn off.  :-\ I plugged the probes into the 122 VAC wall, verified by my HP 3468b that is within spec. The Fluke read 133 mV! I tried calibrating ohms and DC volts, that worked well. I get "error 41" when I try to calibrate VAC using the HP as reference. I can calibrate the ohms and VDC just fine, after erasing the calibration. AC voltage remains elusive.  :scared:

What might be wrong, and what should I do? The self test is fine on the Fluke!

Pull the unit out if it's cabinet and make sure that you see a single wire, (I think it's a red wire), going from the AC board to the main board. If that is not connected, you won't get a reading. If it is connected, then you might have problems with the AC board.

I think I have a spare board somewhere around that we might could work something out on.
