tektronix tds 360
« on: April 30, 2022, 03:26:59 pm »
Good evening I have a tektronix TDS360 oscilloscope that after a while freezes. The key commands do not work. Maybe I should calibrate or update the firmware?

No. Check for leaky capacitors on the boards and the power supply.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

i checked the electrolytics with esr test on the power supply. i noticed that by disconnecting the floppy controller it locks less. maybe you have to configure the main. do you know how to proceed? thanks

Did you check this thread?

Are there any failures in the self test? You can also try to reseat all the boards and connectors (but don't use contact spray!)

How long have you owned this oscilloscope? When did this problem start to show or did you buy it this way?

I strongly doubt a firmware update will help; 'freezing' on older equipment usually points to an electrolytic capacitor or contact problem but it can be something entirely different as well. You need to troubleshoot this problem methodically. You wrote that disconnecting the disk drive makes the problem appear less. This makes the power supply the primary suspect. The service manual for this model should be available somewhere. See if there are voltage and ripple specifications in there for the supply rails and check whether these are within specifications.
