I'm looking to buy a reasonably priced DC/AC clamp meter, primarily for general electrical use but it would be nice for it to read low DC amps for fault-finding automotive/electronics.
I understand I would probably be better served with two separate meters but I hope to find a compromise in one.
I've had Brymen DMMs before and very happy with them so I have been considering their 079 (Amprobe 320) and 089 (Amprobe 330) clamps but can't find many opinions on them. The motor rotation feature is not essential but could be quite handy along with the VFD.
It seems the 089 has a better backlight and current rating and potentially deals with VFD better – but the larger clamp looks like it could be a hindrance.
Does anybody have any opinions on these meters or recommendations for similar alternatives I should look at?
I quite like the look of the Hioki 4371, but they seem more expensive and difficult to get in the UK.
Thanks!
