| HighVoltage:
I am looking for a good Gaussmeter to measure the surface BR in mT of permanent magnets. Any suggestion? |
| TERRA Operative:
Not sure how useful it will be seeing as I'm in Japan, but I'm currently getting a quote on a probe from AD-S here, so I know they are a source for meters and probes etc. http://www.ad-s.co.jp/ If I get a probe (absolutely no idea on cost yet...) I'll play with this meter I have for a bit, make a youtube video and probably be looking to sell it off in the next few months, if you are interested....? |

I would look at Alphalabs for a basic Hall-probe based gaussmeter. https://www.alphalabinc.com/product-category/gaussmeters/ Another good distributor (at least in US) is https://gmw.com/product-category/magnetic-field-measurement/ |

Depending on how you want to approach this and how well your bench spare parts collection is you might consider a DIY meter. I made one using the Allegro 1302 Hall effect sensor and a Motorola LP2951 voltage regulator. Very inexpensive and quick to build. Almost rivals my lab unit for accuracy too. I use it to measure ion pumps magnets. It will also detect the earth magnetic field well. I mounted the Hall sensor at the end of a plastic straw with some heat shrink over. The readout is a voltage on my DMM. |
