Title: Genuine yihua 862d+ and cheaper copies
Post by: queennikki1972 on August 26, 2019, 09:58:05 pm
I've seen much cheaper identical copies of the Genuine yihua 862d+. Are they all basically the same? From the images they are identical.

I have the one branded as "Zeny" and it looks just like all of the other brands so they're probably all the same.

Did you have to modify the heat sinks or have you not had any issues?

I didn't have to but I replaced a bunch of the components on the circuit board with known brand/quality parts. I also added an AC input connector on the rear so the power cord could be disconnected for storage. I added a heatsink to one of the voltage regulators because it didn't have one and it was cheap and easy to do. It works real well for me. I have no complaints at all. I bought some spare parts for it assuming it would be hard to get them in the future. YMMV  :)

Last question, did you try the hakko tips on it? And if so, which ones fit. I did not see replacement tips on ebay for the solder iron..

I have not tried the Hakko tips on the soldering iron. The tips that came with the unit are working good enough for now. I have better soldering irons anyway.
