If you will keep the probes out of the wall socket, meaning no high energy circuits at all, then perhaps this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digitek-DT-4000ZC-TekPower-TP4000ZC-Data-Logging-Multimeter-with-Temperature-/200912705694
or the UT61E I guess.

Remember, these are only for bench top use!

Lightages,

Statement from an ebay seller: Re.: TekPower TP4000ZC Compatible with Xp and downward, it may not work on Vista and Win7.

Not trms(Not a big deal, right?) or Win 7 compatible(A big deal 'cause that's what I have), right? OK, thanks!

It's true that the software that comes with that meter (at least when I bought one 3 years ago) is quite rudimentary and antiquated.

What will work with that meter is the exellent qtdmm.

I know it works under Linux and OSX - I'm not sure about the Windows version but it's worth a try.

BTW, even though the TekPower TP4000ZC is not listed as supported - I got it to work no problem.

Have a look at the link I posted. Here it is again

I have used this program with both Linux and OSX but have not tried it with Windows. Per the download page, it should work.

Also - the QtDMM page has a link to a list of meters that QtDMM is known to support. What I'm saying is that I've been able to get it to work with the tekpower meter as well.

All I can say is download the program and see if you can get it to work with Windows 7.  If not  - nothing lost - it's free. If it does work and you get the Tekpower meter and have trouble getting it going let me know, I can share the settings I used.

OK - I just looked up the newest version of Ultra DMM which I know is Win 7 comptable - since i've used it on my Win 7 laptop.  The newest version supports the Tekpower TP4000ZC!

Ultra DMM can be downloaded HERE

Thanks, I will keep that in mind. Have any opinions on the next grade up in a trms dmm for same general purpose electronics use with Data Logging?

I also have a UniT UT61D which is trms and data logs. It comes with it's own Win7 compatible software and works with UltraDMM.

It can be had for $40-50 though I scored mine on closeout for less than $30.

But like the Tekpower meter I would only use it for low power electronics. The CAT ratings are not accurate. It is also pretty slow - much slower than that Tekpower.

Can't the UT 139C be modded for RS232 communication?
On Kerry's page http://www.kerrywong.com/2016/03/19/hacking-dtm0660l-based-multimeters/ no one seemed to have succeeded, yet.
