It depends on what you need the meter for!
If it's for electronics, breadborad stuff, and ocasionally probing on the mains side of a power supply, I'd probably go for Uni-T 61E and, if possible, the European version or the Tenma 72-10415 which is sold by Farnell and is basically a rebranded UT61E, with seemingly better protection.
Also, for electronics work, the 22000 count display is almost therapeutic to look at. You can measure 5V or 12V with three decimals just to tickle your inner nerd. I know I like it, in spite of the fact I probably don't needed it that bad.
I just bought and, of course, took it apart before even turning it on in proper EEVblog fashion, the Tenma I mentioned above and took some pictures.
Here is a view of the fuses, PTCs, MOVs and the rest of the protection circuitry. I was pleasantly surprised by the beefier HRC fuses and the fact that all protection elements seemed to be in place. I compared this board with several others I've seen on YouTube reviews and it's a bit of a (pleasant) mixture of things. Now, I don't have any surge generators at hand to actually test what it can withstand, I could perhaps through some ESD pulses at it, but since I'm gonna use this only up to 24V or so, I'll leave it alone.

Here is a detail with the marking on the PCB, it's a bit unclear, but it says 61E NEW CE, and if that's a date code, it says 150507-10D... a wild guess makes me think it means 2015 May the 7th... as for 10D, your guess is as good as mine.
