really nice hack! To activate it on other 1xxx models will be a winner
I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter ...
I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me.

Nice

Was looking at his plugin to analyze DS2000 firmware, maybe a similar service mode exists.
However, DSP processor is different (BF526 vs BF531). Would probably require more work than I am capable of.

On the DS1052 it's really hard to get this, ATM you must make firmware downdates with manipulated firmwares, add a serial cable etc....
But...all the code for this menus I found in the DS1052 v2.05 firmware too !!!
But there is no way to switch it on :(

So it could be completely disabled or they've added more security. I don't suppose any rigol assembly line workers read the forum?

There is no big difference between BF531 and BF526, you must change only the blackfin.cfg file...its a textfile with the peripheral registers of the blackfin.

In the DS1052 v2.05 are some functions completly removed, so you have no chance to activate it without firmware patching. On older versions, i don't know.
I'm sure it's possible to hack any firmware version of the Rigol DS1052 to make 100MHz. The only question is how. If you have the firmware, you can find a way....

Awesome! My DS1022C now has the 2ns timebase. If the true analog bandwidth has been increased from 25MHz to 100Mhz, I haven't been able to test this really...

But it still has only 400Ms/s per each channel...
Amazing machines. https://www.youtube.com/user/denha (It is not me...)

Of course it has still the 400MSa/s. However, it is a nice unexpected software addition to a piece of hardware unchanged since I got the scope directly from China in like 2008. Well before the 1052E models became famous.

Hacking the 1052e is easier than ever. I did it in about half an hour with a downgrade-hack-upgrade procedure. No serial cables, just USB and a pen drive.

But I think it could be easier. If you use USB, you must install drivers, find the right software, etc. I can do it without a downgrade, with a patched firmware, but this solution is shitty too.

Thank you, it is working with VC++ 2008.

I'm a bit confused when I read that some DSOs can be hacked to gain more bandwidth.
My opinion is that if someone make a DSO, say with 200MHZ bandwidth he must be crazy to sell it like a, say 150MHz bandwidth DSO. Where my opinion is wrong?

This has been discussed extensively in one of the Agilent DSO-X 2000/3000 threads. If the cheap DSOs use the same 200 MHz parts/design, then the R&D can be spread over a much larger volume, while maintaining the higher profit margin on higher end items.

I've got my DS1022CD now with a 2ns timebase too!  This is pretty cool.  There have been so many times I've wanted to go smaller than 20ns!

I compared a 80 MHz TTL oscillator on it and while you can cleanly see the signal, it is attenuated quite a bit (3.06V) compared to an DS1102E (5.31V) so the inputs are not 100 Mhz...  No bother though, I'm thrilled to have it go down to 2ns.
