| Hameg HM8012 ''OFF" |

Hello to everybody. Thank you for this forum it has helped me a lot. I have a Hameg HM8012 which has problems. At first, after turning on and starting the procedure, it said OFF. Replacing the EEPROM as shown here solved everything. After powering up with the new EEPROM it showed CAL E and the display showed nonsense values. I tried to load the data from the original EEPROM and it worked. So I uploaded them to the new memory and turned on the device. The display showed CAL E again, but the multimeter went into measurement mode, the ranging relays clicked, but the instrument behaved strangely and measured the wrong readings. I suspect that the data in the old EEPROM is corrupted. Could one of you email me the .bin file from your multimeter? I would try uploading it to mine to verify the function even at the cost of inaccurate measurement. Thank you for any new advice. Richard. |

so... it seems a good thing to open your 8012 and save the eeprom content for the time where the eeprom dies ? |
| holyholy:
It would probably be good. I would need statement 93C46 |

I don't think the eeprom content of another 8012 will be good for your 8012, as the calibration sure is different. |

Yes, I know that other calibration values will not be suitable for my 8012, but I will verify that the device is fine (even if it will measure inaccurately) and then I can have it calibrated in an accredited laboratory. |
