I think I've improved a lot from what I was originally.
The power supply is disastrous, I want to improve it someday or even feed it with DC directly...

However, for what I use it for, it allows me to work perfectly with this residual noise in the order of microvolts...

They tell me through the earpiece to post a photo of the mains filter...

It is actually a much smaller filter than usual, especially because the connections are on the side, so that the filter fits perfectly inside the original assembly...of course the filter has the IEC connector built in...

It was a coincidence, because I had that filter for years from some instrument that I dismantled, but if I hadn't had this one I would have made some kind of invention to put it in...

hope this help!...

That's without the cables/probes connected, right?
What did it look like before the changes?

I haven't changed anything and I don't see an excessive problem with noise in my scope.
Maybe that's why I don't quite understand the noise “problem” that many are reporting.
It's a $150 scope and we have 2mV/div sensitivity.
I think that is fine.

I do agree that the scope can interfere with other equipment (as well as my PSU does).

I had a noisy CH1, was the nut in the bnc conector, was a bit loose and that was enough.
Be careful, it's jelly alloy, the threads will strip very easily.

Good afternoon! New here and really enjoying using my DSO2D15.

I've managed to sort out most of my initial problems, update, backed up etc. But.....
Despite looking for a few days I cannot find a way of getting it to talk to my WIN11 laptop. It will "chime" in FEL mode and Zadig will install the winusb driver. I'm sure I've followed the FAQs to the letter, used the usb-fix changed the windows security settings but I cannot get it to communicated in normal mode.

Is there a work around or should I just dig out an old Raspberry pi and monitor and give up with Windows!

Kind regards

Phill

Did you try Rohde drivers as stated in the readme?

Thanks for the reply DavidAlfa. Ah, I believe so! Installed RS_VISA_Setup_Win_7_2_3 from the link in the readme. That didn't help. I'm going to strip everything out and start again this afternoon.

Thanks again, Phill

Who needs windows!

Dug out the raspi and plugged in the DSO in FEL mode:

BUS 001 Device 006: ID 1f3a:efeB Allwinner Technologies sunxi SoC OTG connector in FEL/flashing mode.

Plugged in without pressing FEL:

BUS 001 Device 007: ID 049f:505e Compaq Computer Corp. DSO2D15

Kind regards

What an idiot!! Sorry all. Got a torch out and examined my very old Lenovo laptop.

The trackball wireless mouse happily sat in a USB 2.0 socket but the other two USB slots show ssusb....USB 3.0 Mea Culpa. I just assumed it was too old for 3.0 In fairness, it must be an early USB 3.0 as everything is black, even the writing.  |O

And....it works.

We're not all as good as that. Not only am I seeing >3x what you see, I also see larger 10x magnitude transients that are causing triggering issues when examining small amplitude signals.

I think at 2mV/div you should use High-Res or Average acquisition mode.
In normal mode, apparently only the 5mV/div measurement is magnified, which looks like more noise.

It is not always easy to get stable triggering in a noisy signal.
Sometimes you have to work with trigger holdoff, averaging etc..
This often produces amazing results.
Here you can see such an “elaboration”.
It shows a little bit of ripple on 12VDC.

But yes, this is a cheap scope. There are certainly better ones. 12 bit for example.

Hello, new owner here.

I been playing around the function generator today and it is on paper 25mhz, but if you draw arbitrary sinewave you can squize a sine at 100mhz 1Vp (when you set it to 5-7V ) and 80mhz isn't even a problem, 50mhz is almost full swing if you draw a square wave :]
It is wobbly, it is unstable but it technically count as a sine wave. :]

I know it is cheeting but this little thing is quite powerfull, i like it.

You can delete this comment if it is out of topic but it is an achivement of my dso2d10 i love to share with you.

Maybe i have stupid ideas, but i tested some things with my scope today. technically both usb keyboard, and usb hubs work in front usb port.
so i tested something more stupid. I hooked up usb network adapter, and not only the link is up, there is also some activity on the activity led of the adapter. Sadly it did not pick up an ip number on the router dhcp table. so either it has no idea what to do with the network card or simply has no intention to get the ip. I haven't modedmy scope at all so far, but i was kind of curious about a certain set of mods to aply.

First of all i probably overclock it, i have no idea why hantek underclocked it to the point it feels laggy. but from what i seen bumping cpu to around 700mhz and memory a pit makes wonder for the response of the controll and how the screen updates.

but the 2nd kind of mod i would love is to install lighweight web server on it, capture screen and stream it directly to the locally hosted website, probably with amn option to log in to the linux shell from the website directly. Something like custom vnc could capture the screen i think and host it as a webpage
i just need to know how to enable dhcp client on the scope first. I am not sure if i can do it myself though.

i am also very curious what is this magical xy mode is that a mod or is my scope has it, my xy mode looks nothing like this

Well yes that is how you get this scren but my xy is just a bunch of jumping dots and this is running with vectorized form , both on waveform procession graph and the xy window. i presume this is 1,01khz sine and 1 hkz arbitraty form feed back directly from the external generator to scope probes. i can set the timebase and stuff like that just fine, but not the rotating graph, up there i just have a bunch of not connected points and i don't know if it is the overclock in the works, or some custom animation played back on the screen as a prank. 20 mv would seems awfully low unless he used 1/100 probes set to 1x in the scope plus absolute no noise
is that even the same scope?

I don't know exactly what you mean.
In XY mode I can sometimes see individual dots, but I don't see anything worrying at 100µs or 200µs.
He probably forgot to switch 1x/10x in the video. That must be 200mV/div.

I was just reading values from the screen on that video and deducing the rest.
But i think i have figured it out a little bit at least. Xy don't like rapid climbing signals you can recreate my "problem". since i don't have signal generator i used test square wave as one of the  channels, the other was fed from internal generator and a square +square just look terrible, sine + not square looks ok.

well i just want that ethernet hacked in now :P probably just need to mod a console and then poke with linux commands.

The component in the picture is a variable capacitor, right? (Analog Input 1)
What does it do?

Thank you.

I think it's HF compensation:

Thank you!  :-+

I see a non-linearity on channel 2 at 500mV/div (1x) and above, using direct connection/coax.
Channel 1 does not show this problem.

At 1kHz the rectangle gets smaller to the right (1kHz_500mV.png), at 100kHz it gets bigger towards the right (100kHz_500mV.png).
At 1MHz it looks good (1MHz_500mV.png), also at 200mV/div (1x, after relay click) and below (100kHz_200mV.png).

Adjusting that variable capacitor probably doesn't help, right?

Thanks!

Don't trust too much the gen output either.
Make a small dot with a marker so you can restore it, and have fun!

Thank you.

The AWG is OK. Screenshots 2 and 4 are exactly the same in terms of AWG, only V/div is changed. Also Ch1 is OK.

I will try this tomorrow. We'll see...  :-+

Hello, I'm having a problem and I must be doing something terribly wrong for this error to occur. I put them in context, a few days ago my DSO2D10 that had firmware 3205 and software 2022.10.28 and the following mods: 2D15 conversion, Generator calibration, Patched english font and the one that makes the UART decoder appear the characters (I don't remember the name right now).

I noticed a few days ago that channel 2 was as if the "invert" option was activated, but it was deactivated, if I activated it then it became normal, which seemed strange to me, I wanted to fix it by applying all the backup that I have saved created with the Backup Builder, I put it on a pen drive and applied by reading David Alfa's instructions, but since my native language is not English it´s Spanish, so I use Google to translate. My oscilloscope is in the version and firmware that it had before all the modifications but now I was able to apply the conversion to 2D15 and nothing more, any other gives an error "-3" that I put some images, I can't put any other FW or Mod, as I say I'm doing something wrong or I haven't fully understood it, how I said I don't speak English but Spanish and I have to translate with Google. Has this happened to anyone else? Any observations? Applying my backup took me to Firmware 3102 and Software 1.0.2.0.0(221028.00) which is how it was when I used the Backup Build, Thanks.
