Title: Hantek DSO4254C or DSO6204C - Opinions?

Hello Everyone!

I am a hobbyist and would like to get myself a DSO. It would be nice to be a better performant (i.e. good specs) and reliable device, which I would use occasionally. I’d prefer a 4-channel scope, bandwidth 200 MHz or more, sampling rate of at least 1 GSa/s, AWG. My budget is severely limited, basically the price to not exceed CA $1,000.

I’ve done a lot of reading and searching which led to my focusing on two models from Hantek: DSO4254C or DSO6204C. DSO4254C is rated for250 MHz (which is nice!) but apparently its record length is only 64K. DSO6204C is rated lower (200 MHz), has a record length of 64M, but seemingly no external triggering capabilities.

I am finding hard to decide between the two models. I would assume that for my basic, infrequent repair jobs, the DSO4254C scope with 64K would be plenty sufficient. But I don’t have a feel for what 64K really means practically and how serious a severe limitation this might be.

I’ve found the DSO4254C at a good price on Ali Express, at approx. 70% of my budget limit. But I cannot find the DSO5204C anywhere for sale, which seems weird. I sent a question to Hantek in this regard but I’ve yet to receive a response.

I would be very happy to hear your feedback and suggestions on:

• Is my choice sound based on my limited budget?
• Are these Hantek models generally reliable and good value for the money?
• Where could purchase the DSO6204C from?
• Other brands/models that you would recommend instead?
• Any other insight or recommendations?

I’m surprised no one has chimed in. As a long-time lurker, I had the impression that this discussion board was more active...

In any case, Hantek responded to me that the DSO6204C model is currently not available because it’s been “improved”. Also, a vendor indicated non-availability for this model due to lack of parts.

Therefore, I’d have to look at other brands / models. After speaking to some of my friends, and inevitably bumping up my budget, I am looking at Siglent SDS2104X Plus. There’s also a SW promo running until the end of the month for it. So currently I am busy reading 99 pages of discussion board:

Question: Are there any other models similar (+/-) to SDS2104X Plus that you’d recommend me to look at?
