Title: Hantek DSO5072P scope; missing RS232 port
Post by: oneeye on September 21, 2014, 05:09:38 pm
Hi all
I just got me a new Hantek DSO5072P scope, first because it was the cheapest (most expensive I could afford), and second, because I liked the idea of 'hacking' it up to 200MHz.
Took the covers off and was I disappointed. NO RS232 PORT. If this has been reported already, I apologize, but I did several searches and turned up zilch.

If anyone is interested, I took some pictures:

Not sure if I put them in correctly because they don't show in preview, so I added them as attachments as well. But they don't show up 'preview' either. |O

If Hantek hid the port somewhere and anyone knows where, I would be a very happy bunny if you could let me know where, or if there is another way of performing 'Tinhead's' excellent hacks.
I didn't look under the small shields next to where the port was originally, I guess I'm hoping that's where it's hiding.

UPDATE: I think I'm beginning to see the light (dimly), from working my way slowly through Tinhead's 600 pages, (how does the guy do it?) Consequently,  I now believe the 'hack port' was moved back to next to the rear USB (B). If this is correct, could somebody let me know! I'm reluctant to ask Tinhead, the guy has his hands full with more than enough pratts like me asking silly questions all the time.

Any help or info would be much appreciated.

Correct... it is immediately to the left of the USB port as you view the board from the rear, and the pins are (from left to right) +3.3V  GND  TX  RX

Thank you The Doc and Tinhead.
Yes I have already discovered that while reading through your (Tinhead) gargantuan work, but now I have a new problem.
My problem is that the voltages are all reading wrong (see attached screen shot).
I have been searching (nothing relevant) and reading (nothing found).
I have done no 'Hacks' or software or firmware upgrades and the scope was working fine until today.
The only thing I have done, is to download a 'backup' using Tinheads excellent  software via the front USB, hence the 'upgrade count' of one.
The 'backup' was done when first got the scope and it has worked OK until now. As I don't know if it's a software or hardware problem, I haven't attempted to 'reinstall' the 'backup', for fear of making things worse.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
