PS bananas vs audio terminals difference
« on: December 22, 2018, 01:16:19 pm »
Hi!

What the difference behind Power supply terminals and Speaker banana terminals?

I see side hole at my PS terminal is about  1/16", but at China speakers it is about 1/8"
Both are made from non-magnetic alloy

Can I use  speaker terminals like this for my new DIY Power Supply?

All the banana connectors I've come across on audio gear are the same as the one on most power supplies. If it is actually a different diameter, be prepared to not be able to use normal banana test leads with it.

The alloy should not effect anything, Infact I would be concerned by the fact non magnetic alloy is a selling point, I hope there aren't too many of these made out of steel, I would expect most of these to be made out of something like phosphor bronze,

The only real difference is some dont have the side holes for looping wire through the terminals, but that comes down to your requirements.

No. It is 4mm central hole too. But plastic nuts at Speaker terminals are shotter then plastic nutts at Power supply. Is it good/bad?

Yea. I see side hole at Speaker terminal is bigger

Those look ideal for power supply use. Go for it!
