Hantek DSO5102P single shot not always working
« on: October 15, 2023, 12:16:42 pm »
I am an amateur as far as electronics is concerned. I am trying to capture a key sent from a terminal emulator to a UART on the scope using the single shot facility. I have followed the procedure in the manual. Sometimes it works. After making the settings in the acquire menu, i press the single shot button which lights up and stays on until i send a character which it correctly captures and the light on the button then goes off. in other cases the single shot button blinks on when pressed and off immediately so it is not possible to capture the character. Any idea what could be causing this?

Assuming you are using edge trigger, is the trigger level correct? It needs to be different to the quiescent signal level otherwise it will trigger immediately or randomly. For serial comms try setting it in-between the mark and space voltage levels.
