Sounds like it's a doddle! Thanks mate! ...in fact it seems a bit of a "fail safe" as you could modify things without the reboot and if you screw it up it just clears... (Wish life was like that... ;) ) |

A couple of questions: - It looks like to the left of the serial header there is a spot for a DB9 + a MAX323-style chip? - I see the SOIC-8 footprint on the bottom under the HF counter, any ideas what chip part # could go there? I had a look around and came up with this: http://www.micrel.com/index.php/en/products/clock-timing/clock-data-distribution/clock-dividers/article/21-sy10100el32v.html. Just not sure what type of divider would be needed; this is of course only a /2 divider. |

See attached picture with populated spots. --- Quote from: idpromnut on May 07, 2014, 11:18:45 pm ---- I see the SOIC-8 footprint on the bottom under the HF counter, any ideas what chip part # could go there? It could be a 1/128 divider as the high frequency input could go up to 2.7Ghz and the low frequency input is still working at 25Mhz. Tinhead suggested a LMX5080 or a MB510 but the pinout to this footprint is strange: 1&8 are connected together (2.5v), 2, 3, 6&7 are grounded and 4&5 are not connected ... :-// |

Interessting news! Quite a bargain when considering the hackability. I wonder how the Waveforms look like. Do you maybe have a DSO and want to post some measurements here in the forum? Right now, I'm also considering to buy one of there FG's. Spec's are really awesome. |
