very quiet buzzer on BM235
« on: June 11, 2020, 09:02:13 pm »
I recently got an EEVBlog Brymen BM235 and I noticed that the buzzer on the continuity tester is very quiet. I've checked around the forums but I don't see any mention of this. I've replaced the batteries and such and that didn't affect the volume of the buzzer. Has anyone else noticed this? Could it be something defective about the buzzer? The thing is brand new.

Somebody else had concerns with an inconsistent beeper level on their BM-235 and the recent thread is linked below for reference. Another member also posted a video on how to quieten a BM-231 which he considered too loud. These variations with the beeper level could be an indication of faulty piezo sounders or perhaps some other production problem.

Thanks Muttley.

If the buzzer is faulty, you think you'd see a higher than normal resistance of the buzzer element, lowering the current through it?

No if the buzzer is a piezo type, the resistance of piezo is very high be default.
