Hioki 3227 AC voltage input change
« on: February 05, 2024, 04:07:09 pm »
I picked up a Hioki 3227 that is set for 100VAC power.  I need to change this to 120VAC.   There are many taps on the transformer input but nothing is marked.  Could someone tell me what jumpers to change?

I expect that now are 2 windings in parallel. Pictures will help. Plug the device to AC100 (I use autotransformer) measure the voltages across the taps. Usual connection is 0-100-10-10 and second winding same 0-100-10-10. In your case you will leave the zeros interconnected and move the parallel connection of the "phase" to the last taps.

Thank you for the reply.  H  I figured it out.  What I did was measure the winding resistance and picked the highest one for 120V.  It seems to work fine (no smoke).  The confusing part is that there were 9 wires for the 2 primaries.  One wire went to the transformer frame/shield.   The other 8 wires were just a standard dual primary multi-voltage transformer.  The other confusion was a jumper for the AC input.  That also needed to be moved.  I have attached the before and after photos for the 100V and the 120V jumper connections.  Hioki is really bad about posting service information.

Hioki does not support older equipment. The jumper seems similar to one in my Hioki 7020 only split to 2 jumpers.
