| How to Compare Two Recorded Waveforms on Rigol DS1054Z |
| (1/1) |
| reynolds087:
I have a Rigol DS1054Z, and I'm trying to view two waveforms on two different channels using the "SINGLE" button. Ideally, I want to capture the output from an IR transistor when I click the power button on my remote control, then capture the output from the same IR receiver when I output a signal from my microcontroller attached to an IR LED. I just want to make sure they are outputting the same signal. Is there a way to do this on my scope? Every time I get the first waveform on the screen, and I switch from channel 1 to channel 2 and press the "SINGLE" button, the capture I did on channel 1 disappears. |

you can press the "REF" button and save the waveform on channel 1, then capture the waevform on channel two and then you can compare them The white waveform is the reference waveform from a previous capture. |
| Martin72:
When the delay between the two signals is not too long for the display/timebase setting, it is no poblem: 2 channels active, trigger on one channel. If the signal on one channel is triggered and acquisition stops, you see also what happen on the second channel at the same moment. |

Thanks, that worked, although I do have some trouble getting the "SINGLE" button to work consistently. Sometimes I just have to turn the scope on and then off again. Is there any settings that heavily influence its ability to capture a waveform? When I just hit "RUN" I can clearly see the signal on the screen, but just for a split second and then it's gone. Then I flip to "SINGLE" and sometimes it will just sit there waiting. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why it works sometimes and not others. |
| Martin72:
It depends on the triggerlevel: Example, you want to capture a logical signal, from zero to high level. Then you could set the triggerlevel to say 2V and positive edge and press Single. Trigger is now armed and will take a shot when the signal rises above the prior levelsetting. |
