Ordered 2x Aneng 8008's from Banggood - got 2 different meters!
« on: February 24, 2019, 05:50:20 am »
I wanted another compact meter and decided to snag a couple of Aneng 8008s from Banggood, since by all accounts they're decent little meters for the $16 price (even given the missing 60mV range). I intentionally avoided the 8009 because I don't have a need for NCV and Temp on these meters (I have plenty of other meters), and it's $4 more. But figured I might one day have a use for the 8008's 3.3v square wave generator on the bench. Maybe.

Anyway, I got both meters today. Here they are side-by-side. Notice anything odd?

It looks like the meter on the left is actually the 8009 with an 8008 badge! I confirmed that it's not just a case swap, it actually has the NCV & Temp functions (though no thermocouple included) instead of the wave generator. Also the cases are orange, not the usual red that I've seen and as shown on the Banggood page.

Both seem to work fine from what I've seen. I'm not hung up on it or anything, just found it kinda funny. Anybody else seen this?

Complain about it and they may send you a replacement meter and allow you to keep 8009 as well.
