Hello,
So I have a nice little Brymen BM257s and pleased with it i am.
Only problem is when i touch the test leads together it reads about 1.9 ohms.
Hence measuring small resistors I am always having to subtract 1.9 ohm.
I have looked and looked but can't find a way to zero out this offset.
Have i missed something or is this a missing feature in the BM257s

And for what you have a REL button? How about reading the manual? 1.9 ohm sounds too large though.

I must say i don't use this nice mm enough to get use to all the feature and now i am the wiser re the REL button.
Problem it takes a few measurements to zero out the offset but after some practice i think i have it mastered.
Measuring low ohms however is still very problematic, as when the offset is set at zero ohms across the leads.
The next across leads measurement can often be as much as 0.5 ohms out again.
Which i guess is pretty much standard when trying to measure such a low resistance with a mm like this.

Try cleaning probes and measurement points with alcohol. You might need to press probes quite hard to get stable contact resistance.

my original Brymen BM867S golden probes has 0.8 - 1 Ohm.
From my point of view this is too much, isn't it?

my flukes 189, gossen etc ... have at least 0.1 to 0.33 ohms at maximum ???
never saw something higher than this ??
