Title: HP 11664A detector DIY replacement
Post by: doktor pyta on May 15, 2014, 10:47:14 pm
Older HP's scalar network analyzers can often be found on Ebay auctions at low prices.
Unfortunately, lot of them are sold without (or with defected) microwave detector probes.
I want to present simple project made few years ago. It allows to replace expensive HP 11664A detectors.
You wil need:

*positive and negative output detectors can be used.
Use proper resistor for diode biasing (R8 for posititive output detectors; R4 for negative output detectors)

The performance is similar to 11664A detector. It will be sufficient for most HAM radio DIY applications.

Nice! It is essentially an HP 11664C adapter. The headache is that you need to calibrate it with a power meter first and every time you change the detector.
