there is now a patched BIOS ROM for the HP16500C that makes a lot more CF (and SD) cards work: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/solving-the-hp16500-compact-flash-card-mystery/msg6099111/#msg6099111

I can do HP16500B as well, but I cannot test it...
