HP 1661ES documentation
« on: December 15, 2022, 10:31:23 pm »
Greetings & Merry Christmas!
I'm searching for a few pages out of the service manual for the hp1661es, specifically the parts list & associated drawings of where the parts are located. I know it's a long shot, but I'd like to find a replacement for the plastic piece that wraps around the front of the sheet metal box, right behind the front panel...mine suffered a little damage in transit recently. Also, would like to know if there is a cmos backup battery in there that might want to be replaced, since I have no idea how old it might be. Any pointers appreciated, I already searched the list of sites on the HP/Agilent/Insight/name of the week web page.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

You do not say where the damage to the bezel is, but on my logic analyzer the bezel snapped right through where the fxing screws are located.
I  3d printed some splints that use longer screws to hold the broken pieces together. This has worked well for several years now.

Just in case this is useful,  I  have attached the OpenSCAD file.

Regards
Dave

It took a hit on the right front corner, as viewed from the front. Fortunately it was wrapped in a plastic sheet, so I was able to capture most of the pieces, at least those big enough to see. It's not really terrible, I'm going to make an attempt to fuse the larger pieces together with plastic-melting solvent as a first try, then fill in the small gaps with epoxy. Pretty odd, and lucky, there is no sheet metal damage at all. Would you happen to know anything about the internals of this beast? I'm reluctant to open it up until I deal with the fractured plastic, it be easily made worse I think.

Thanks,
Bill
ps: looks like all the 166x machines use the same enclosure & trim, perhaps there is a dead parts machine somewhere that might have intact trim?
