HP 3314A Error code 31 and 36 sometimes 34
« on: October 07, 2023, 03:46:06 pm »
I still haven't found the problem with the HP 3314A. Too little amplitude in the calibration range. Error code 31 and 36, sometimes 34. I have already replaced the following components. LM393, SN74LS279AN and SN74LS125AN in the A8/A1 board.

Who has an idea and can help?

thanks
Rudolf

There are a number of connector/cable issues with this model.
See the following parts 1 and 2 for general refurbishment, troubleshooting, and circuits operation.

Thanks, I have already seen the videos and the only thing I can still try is to change the cables. I will give it a try.

I have changed the cables. No change, the error is still there.

If you haven't already, run through the complete calibration/adjustment procedure.  The 3314A attempts to correct itself, but it can only adjust its parameters over a short range and it assumes they are close to begin with.

My 3314A will often throw a Error 31 (frequency error exceeds correction capability).  I can usually get rid of that error by following the frequency accuracy calibration adjustment described in section 5.9 (at least, that's the section number in my version of the service manual).
