Hi all,
Newby here

. I have just purchased off eBay a HP 3325B with option 001 and 002 for a great price. The unit was cheap because it shows "Error 800" on the front panel. The operators guide gives the description for this error as "A remote HP-IB or RS-232 command has a syntax error". This is a bit strange since the pictures of the unit show no connections to the RS-232 and HP-IB interfaces.
Since I'm still waiting for the unit to arrive, I haven't been able to do any basic troubleshooting such as checking loose connections or PSU voltages etc. The reason for this post is to ask the group here whether anyone else has experienced this sort of error or if anyone can give me a heads up with what might be the problem (obviously, the first point of call would be the HP-IB i/f board).
A related question is what software is recommended for controlling the 3325 via the RS-232 i/f? Preferably an OSS solution rather than licensed s/w.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Graham
P.S. I've also posted this question in the Yahoo HP forum as well.
