| HP 3585a Spectrum Analyser throws "Calibration Error 17" error |
| (1/1) |
| timshoe:
I just got an HP 3585a from a fellow Ham because it quit working and he was tired of lugging an 88 lb door stop around. After a couple days work, I tracked down the problem to a shorted tantalum cap on the A26 board that was pulling down the 15v supply. The unit seems to work well now except that it keeps trying to do a calibrate every few minutes and throws a "Calibration Error 17". I went through the manuals and found the error code, but not much information on what causes it. Has anyone seen this problem and fixed it? I searched the web with no joy. Thank you. Tim |

You might check with the HP-Agilent-Keysight-equipment mailing list on groups.io -- that error code may ring a bell with someone. The 3585A here doesn't get used too much but it has been surprisingly reliable for years, given its age. I feel lucky that I've never had to pull it out of the rack. |
