HP 41800a conductive rubber behind the tip replacement source?

(1/1)

Kofen:
I have a couple of HP 41800a probes and recently I experienced that they had stopped working since last time I used.
They showed no LF response and 15db+ insertion loss, looked exactly like an open circuit.

Turns out, the probe tip are electrically connected to the LNA via a gray conductive rubber cylinder, that had of course deteriorated.
I have a few new tips so I was able to restore the operation of the probes, new tip, all good again!

But it got me thinking that sooner or later, the rest of the tips rubber will deteriorate and I am looking to see if anybody knows what HP used for these tips?

Initially I thought of just ordering new tips, but Keysight wants 614 dollar a piece!! Take care of your tips folks!
