Tektronix 11801/11802 information request
« on: April 22, 2014, 09:31:06 am »
Hi,

Since I play for the moment with fast pulse generators I would like to measure them but my 1Ghz Agilent scope is limited to go into the picosecond range.

I don't have any experience in sampling oscilloscope, just know that it is dedicated for repetitive signals.

Sampling oscilloscope from Tektronix 11801/11802 with extra head are widely and quite cheap available on eBay.

Are they using NVRAM's making them unusable in the future, I couldn't find any information in Tek service manual?

Thanks in advance to share your experience.

AFAIK the sampling heads are often broken. A majour nuisance is the EEPROM in the sampling head which may stop working. It can be fixed but I don't know the exact details.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
