Title: HP 8642B display, keyboard and batery cpu problerm
Post by: EB1WB on December 13, 2018, 02:32:51 pm
Hi, my name is Javier and I am writing to see if I could help with a problem I have with an HP 8642B radio frequency generator.
The generator bought it second hand and it was working well for a while, but one day I removed the lid to check it and I found the battery that is on the processor memory card completely damaged and pouring acid through the printed circuit.
I proceeded to remove this plate and remove the old battery and clean the area, take advantage of the components because I did not have any place to buy them and I wanted to try that ... The battery has not been placed because it is difficult to get it.

Also remove the front keyboard to replace the lamps of the display with 4 white leds, which connect to the original place of the incandescent lamps.

The problem was that when putting everything together again the keyboard is blocked and it does not work, and the display is working incorrectly ... (photos)
Can someone help me and explain how I can do checks to see what is wrong with this equipment?
I have a manual with partial schemes but not with real schemes to be able to follow the tracks and check tensions correctly ...

I'm afraid to look at it without advice in case I can damage it more ... do not check the lines that give the information to the display.

Greetings and thanks
