BK Precision 2831E (5491B) ZERO CAL
« on: March 21, 2019, 07:46:21 am »
Hi,

in the system menu of the BK Precision 2831E, there is an entry for "ZERO CAL".

To perform this, the entry of a numeric key is required.

Through trial and error, I found, that the key is 6666.

The volt in socket has to be shorted to the ground socket.

After confirmation with ENTER, the selfcal runs automatically.

I have tested this with the 2831E and this will most likely also work with the sister model 5491B.

Thank you very much.
I will try this zero cal this  afternoon and let everyone know how I made out. My AC volts is reading way high right now.

Hi,

it is in the SYSTEM MENU, the last entry.

Check the manual. In the PDF it is on page 11.
Just google 2831Eand5491B_manual.pdf

In the Zero Cal menu hit enter.
It is very much selfexplaining.

My B&K 2831E is leaving tomorrow to B&K repair. The AC voltage at line voltage is about 9 volts high manual and auto. I did some research and the Zero Cal zeros out the leads for OHMS and has nothing to do with the rest.
Thanks for the info you posted. You can get the cal software but if it goes south you have a paper weight.
Out of warranty repair/cal without paperwork for the cal is 170 and 30 dollars shipping no good on my bench the way it is. Love the display on this meter so.......... we'll get it to specs.
Thanks for the information from everyone
