[TLDR: Ever used a QuantumX MX840 or the Catman software? If not, you probably can't answer this question either]
Hello you all,
Let me preface this by stating that the problem at hand is not my area of expertise, nor is it my occupation. I currently work at the faculty of civil engineering as the only electrical engineer, so I am the "eletrics guy".
I am facing the challenge to connect a potentiometric sensor to a HBM QuantumX MX840 DAQ/Amp device, and read the sensor value in their Catman DAQ software. Now this supposedly very clever DAQ box is apparently capable of detecting on its own what it is connected to, but it does not do so in case of this sensor to be connected, which is in itself just a 1K pot.
Now in the software you can assign a type of sensor to an input, and it lists all kinds of sensors, but not a potentiometer.
This is clearly a PEBCAK on my part, because I can't figure out where you find potentiometric sensors to save my life, but it must work, because the documentation of the MX840 clearly lists how to wire a potentiometer.
If anyone has used this software before and knows how this is done, I would be very thankful for a tip.
