uCurrent Gold box
« on: June 13, 2020, 02:17:40 pm »
I received my uCurrent Gold today...YAY!

Being a little bothered by the center of gravity while mounted in the box provided, I decided to 3DPrint a box with a lower profile.

Here is a picture of RevA.  I am thinking about putting a hole in the bottom to access the battery.  I am printing a battery-removal tool at this very minute.

I had clear filament spooled up...that is why it is clear.  Looks OK to me.  Maybe if I rev it I will print in grey.

I guess I should have looked on Thingiverse before designing my own box.  There are lots of them on the site!

To lower mine, I just cut down the original box.

It never even occurred to me to look to see if someone had designed one. I bought some of the boxes from the Australian supplier when I built mine, they're decent little project boxes and buying a dozen made the total cost pretty reasonable.

What I'd like to find are some better binding posts that fit nicely. I really don't like those bare metal loudspeaker binding posts it uses, they're needlessly clunky and easily shorted against stuff.

That is a good solution.  My 3D printer is always begging me to print something, so the print solution was perfect for me.
