Hi, One of the first high accuracy DVMs I used back in the day. I've been checking on eBay for a couple years now and have never seen one! Were they that rare or did they all get scrapped?

I would not expect a large number of these build. They were likely quite expenside and the 3455 came out only some 5 years later.
I don't think that many got scrapped (except for the military of cause) - more like a collectors item relatively early and not longer in real use a long time.

There is one that has been on ePay.de for far too long*, might be the high price, it's the H04 version (1,200,000 count).

A slight surprize to find such a meter in Germany. Usually there are only few if the better HP / Fluke and the like used meters available in Europe and shipping from the US makes it quite expensve.
Here it looks like the other way around. Probably easier to sell in the US and a very limited market in Europe for a more collectable than usable meter, though the specs are not that bad.
Definitely an impressive meter for it's time.

At that age one may have to check if it contains a mercury reference cell, as shipping these is illigal with many carriers.

Weird, dude on ebay has a perfectly working Fluke 5440B and an uncalibrated DVM.

First thing I'd do is to calibrate that damn thing, maybe it would sell more easily then, for 1200€

Chances are the calibration could be via old style trimmers. With the value that for off, chanes are the trimmer range would not be sufficient. It could also be more like a repair (e.g. supply hum).

A more or less working condition would be nice, but a calibration is not really needed.

The reference is a 6.2V Zener in an oven.
