HP8648C Repair Output way low above 1001MHz
« on: October 05, 2022, 12:00:48 am »
Well it seems that my 8648C has stopped working above 1001MHz. Above that frequency the output drops by 9 to 14dBm with reference to 0dBm 1mW.
Has anyone seen that issue before I pop the covers on it. From 100KHz to 1001MHz it is absolutely spot on so I think the problem might be in a frequency multiplier string somewhere. Having only block diagrams won't make this easy. This particular generator has option 1EA which is the 100mW power output option.

Thank for looking!

Sam

I’ve done some repair videos for it’s sister unit the B version, there are probably some pointers in there such as the sections to look at, FYI the 8920 uses very similar modules which has the CLIP info available online.

Cheers Scott
