ID Lambda rack mount supply

(1/1)

Fred_47:
I was recently gifted the Lambda power supply shown below. (With the HS hinged open.)

As the label says, it was modified to output 15V probably by Bailey Meter Co. who, I assume, removed the nameplate.

When Bailey went out of business this PS was acquired by a radio repair man who adjusted it to about 13.5V to use for car radio repair.

It works tho I haven't loaded it yet, and is adjustable from about 10.3V to about 15.8V where the crowbar trip triggers. There is an unlabeled adjustment that was exposed when the nameplate was removed. Input power is 115VAC thru exposed terminals on the back. There are sense terminals and output is via 1/4-28 studs. All terminals are on the back.

This thing is very heavy. It probably weighs as much as my Fluke 355D.

It is obviously a linear regulator circuit with a crowbar that trips the input breaker by shorting the output thru a massive SCR or triac. The heatsink has 9 transistors and a thermal switch and is hinged. There is no fan. I can't read the transistor ID but there is 1 RCA 36485 mounted separately which I assume is the driver.

The rectifiers are (W) FBL-00-053, Vr 70Vrms, If 35A.

I don't have any info as to the model number, what the ratings are and how to adjust the crowbar trip. The most recent date code is 7044 on the rectifiers.

My guess is 15V, 500W rack mount system supply maybe 20V, 750W. (edited)

Can anybody ID the model, ratings and adjustments. A manual or schematic would be useful.

It looks exactly like the one on eBay minus the nameplate badges.

I'll have to compare some of the parts and trace some wires to be sure but it appears to be an F package.

Based on the large caps (7800uF)  it's an LM-F24 thru 36 and based on R1 (2.2k) it's not an LM-F36.

Thanks much!

edit-

Based on the transformer part number it is definitely an LM-F24. (I should have said "was". It's now an F15 hybrid.)

hope it helps   :-+
