Initial checks for Tektronix P6042 Current Probe?
« on: October 15, 2023, 04:13:40 pm »
I picked up two of these last week and before I power them up I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about anything that I should check first.  Judging from the stiffness of the power and probe cable I don't think either of these has been used in many years.  The probe cable on one of them has been cut off ab out 5 inches inside of the chassis so I know if will need repair.  I have read the other threads on her about the cracked probes and broken probe cables so I'm already aware of those potential problems. I'm also already planning on checking all of the electrolytic caps in them.

I'm also considering removing the (socketed) M18 amplifier before powering them up and I can fully check the power supply voltages.  Good idea or not?
